ABOUT ME

It is always a concern for parents, who their kids make friends with. I grew up in what you may call an “economically challenged” part of the Maritimes. Needless to say, my parents were justifiably concerned.

Their solution was to buy me a puppy. It worked. The dog and I quickly became best friends. I spent all my time with that dog. Years later, when I was trying to figure out what I was going to do with my life, I realized that it had to involve dogs. The problem was I just didn’t know how to put it into action.

Then along came Maureen. She was breeding Golden Retrievers and running obedience classes. She needed help at her kennel and I started working for her. We became best friends and I learned a tremendous amount from her. Although I really enjoyed the work, deep down inside, I yearned for a dog of my own.

In 2003 I decided to start breeding my own dogs and purchased a Golden from her. I was thinking about a second dog, when one day I met a man with 2 porties. I was smitten with the breed. After careful consideration, I purchased my second dog, a Portuguese Water Dog.

We have 3 porties, 2 goldens and one  maltese.

This may seem chaotic to some but there exist this wonderful pack mentality that keeps everyone in their place – kids included.

I take a lot of pride in what I do. I am very protective and take breeding and selling very seriously. I believe that a pup’s first 8 weeks are critical. Their early exposure to adults, kids and other dogs in our home makes for a well balanced dog. We have found that when placed, they quickly adjust to their new family. House training is usually easy and quick.
